Computer Explorations

This week the students spent 5 class periods exploring different computer programs. From the years that I taught a whole trimester of digital art, I have a lot of tutorials for a variety of digital projects. These are all stored on my elearning moodle site. For some of I have links to videos, for some I have written step-by-step directions and others (the more advanced ones) I just have example images. Check out our elearning as a guest by clicking below.

We explored 3 different programs, MS paint, Adobe Photoshop, and Sketchup. Students self-determined their skill level on each program and jumped to projects within that skill level. Similar to my “draw around the room” activity, the goal was to just explore many different options within a short period of time, maybe make a project or two during the week. The next theme assignment will include the ability to make choose computer to create work.

The results were great and the kids had a fun time! We did spend 2 days on Photoshop, since it has a higher learning curve, one day on Paint, one on sketchup. The last day was our short schedule and reserved for loading their successes onto our Artsonia platform and writing an artist statement.

I also recieved some great press on my Artsonia Gallery lately.
