At the end of this unit students created something new based on the skills they had learned OR picked one of their BEST projects to turn in as the Summative Grade. The work is scored on creativity and craftsmanship. Here are some of the BEST results complete with Artist Statements.
When they reflected in their Artsonia account they had to answer these questions.
- Why is this artwork your “WOW” artwork?
- What is the best thing about this artwork and explain why.
- What are some of the concepts you learned while creating this artwork?
This is my wow artwork because it took me a while to plan it and I had to learn how to draw birds. The best thing on this artwork is the dove because it took me a while to learn how to draw the wings. A couple of things I learned while making this artwork is that wings are very hard to make and the cross on the rosary had to be done correctly in order to make it look good.
This is my “\/\/O\/\/!!!!!!!!” artwork because some of my friends literally said “wow” and I’m proud of how this turned out. I have also spent several long art periods working on this. I myself, think the best part of this artwork is the abstract background and how colorful it is and how the orange shape ended up looking like Utah. I learned how to make a man’s face look messed up.
This artwork is called the “One Legged King” it is very colorful and the best thing about this artwork is that it is very unique and custom because usually other toys would have eyes made out of other materials and two legs but mine has one and I used buttons to make the eyes, nose, and mouth. I also learned that you have to sew everything on like the nose, mouth, and eyes on before you sew the two main parts like the back and front.
This piece of art is called a Cryptex and it acts like a lock. When you put in all four numbers (right ones) you open it revealing a hollow inside. This is a wow artwork because it has many colors and is very complex project that is also has a fun use. It took me about two days to make it carefully measuring and adding all the details. While I was making this artwork I learned that I could make a circle without a compass but just measuring the diameter a lot of times. In the pattern of a circle.
Because I went to my classmates and they said “WOW!” The best about this piece of art is that it look like I what it to and it took some time to do it. that it was hard to make the inner wall the same heights.
